Actually, a nebula is a cloud of space “dust” and gases. The dust is made up of left over star matter and matter from other space objects. A nebula is where stars are born, and some dying stars become nebulae. So, it is like a cycle! Look at the websites to find out more.
Find out more about the Orion Nebula and post some information about what you learned.
The universe keeps getting larger with every second. Scientists have been trying to answer this question, and many have different theories about the “end of the universe”. Trying to measure this would require somethings that we may discover in the far ahead future.
When I think about the size and vastness of the universe, it boggles my mind! It is so hard to comprehend anything so big. Some astronomers think that at some point the universe will stop expanding and actually begin to collapse. You are right, Olivia, there are so many different theories.
What do you think would happen if you touched the sun? You would probobly die because it’s very hot. What would happen if you even got close to the sun? I’m very interested to know.
Avelyn if you even got close enough to see the sun like up close there is know way you’ll ever be able to touch it or even get close to it.You probably wouldn’t be able to get past venus unless some extremly powerful heat and gas sheild was made
I wonder about how many stars are in the Milky Way? Or in the universe? It is hard to picture how big the universe is because we can’t leave our galaxy! If you compare the Earth to the universe the Earth is nothing! And I thought North America was big!!!
Astronomers estimate that there are between 200 million to 400 million stars in the Milky Way! Imagine how many there are in the Universe in other galaxies!!!!!!
Most of the time, on an average you can see about 1000 stars in the night sky.
when the sun burns out we will have 8 more minutes of light and then eventully everything will die.First the plants, then the animals that eat plants, then the animals that eat the animals that eat plants. Then eventully we will run out of plants and animals to eat so we will end up dieing.
i said almost the same thing in science class! exept we’ll all die at the same time because without the warmth of the sun, we freeze into human ice-cubes.
So far, there has not been conclusive evidence of life on the planets that are part of our Solar System. That does not mean that there isn’t any life on other planets in the universe. Do you think there is life on other planets?
That’s an interesting observation. Living in New Jersey, it is often difficult to get a very clear night to view the stars. I think we will always have an opportunity to see the stars even though some will have a clearer view than others. When my students return to school, I will make sure they share their thoughts. Thanks for posting!
The sun is a star. Stars use up gas molecules to create energy in a process called Fusion. All stars will eventually use up all of the Hydrogen molecules and lose their energy. The sun is expected to burn for about another 5 billion years! What do you think the Earth will be like at that time?
Thanks for visiting the blog and adding a good link for information. We will be starting the astronomy unit next week, so I hope there will be more posts on the blog. Please keep visiting. Are you still interested in Astrology?
Take care,

Oh yeah… I am still really into astronomy! I hope you guys have a great astronomy unit! I think it was probably my favorite unit last year! Are you still going to keep up the blog?
what is a nebula is it a place where stars are born or where they die or neither?

I wonder what space would look like with everything a trillion times closer together.
I wonder what space would look like 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 times smaller
i bet that we would be the last solar system!
I wonder what would happen if someone discovered life on Mars?
What parts of space can be dangerous to humans, beside black holes?
so far, everything because we’re the only planet with oxigin for us to breathe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 🙂 😦

you would die long befor you even get 500 miles away from it, i think.
I am corious too what would happen if we touch the sun! I am so curious about the sun. If anyone knows PLEASE TELL ME!
you would die long before you’re even 100,000,000,000 close to it!!!!!!
🙂
Neither. A nebula is a cloud of gas and dust in space.
Check out http://www.kidsastronomy.com
Stars are formed within nebulae and when some stars end their cycle , they
leave behind a nebula
Check out this website http://www.kidsastronomy.com
By the way, the photo you see on this page is a nebula!
I wonder if we will be able use wormholes to travel in time in the future.
that would be cool……………………….
What do you think will happen when the sun burns out?
we have 8 minutes to do everything we wanted to do before we die. 8 minutes!

I wonder if we’ll be able to see stars from Earth in the future? With bigger cities there will be more light pollution.

I wonder when the sun will go black.
The sun is a star. Stars use up gas molecules to create energy in a process called Fusion. All stars will eventually use up all of the Hydrogen molecules and lose their energy. The sun is expected to burn for about another 5 billion years! What do you think the Earth will be like at that time?
I wonder if the planets will look different in 150 years time?
A way to answer that might be to look at how the planets have changed over the past 150 years. Here is a link that talks about a book that sounds like it might adress ideas like that:
